The story of Chopin's relationship with George Sand deserves a separate narrative. For nine long years, this Frenchwoman was a source of inspiration for Frederick. It was during this period that he wrote his best works: preludes and sonatas, ballads and nocturnes, polonaises and mazurkas.

Every summer Sand took the composer to her estate, to the village, where far from the bustle of the capital it worked so well. The idyll was short lived. Break with the beloved, the revolution of 1848. Due to the deteriorating health of the virtuoso can not hold concerts in England, where he left for a short time. He died at the end of the same year, and three thousand fans saw him off at Pere Lachaise cemetery. Chopin's heart was transported to his native Warsaw and buried in the church of the Holy Cross.
